Prawn vadai or erra vadai!;)
Another recipe that i had learnt from the Poor eater's mother a long time back:) Infact i was once telling her about the erra vadais that i had eaten at a friends place & how i would love to learn the recipe etc. She replied that she does it at home & gave me a list of things to get together & told me that she would come over to show me how to do it. So while she did these vadais, i stood by her side & noted down the recipe;) But to be honest the prawn vadai recipe that i was searching for was something made with just prawn & spices ! But after she had made it i didn't have the heart to tell her that this was not the recipe that i was searching for. Though these vadais were good, i am still in search of that just prawn & spices vadai recipe!
Ingredients:
Chana dal - 1 cup, soaked for 3 hours & ground to a coarse paste, like how you grind for masala vadai, onion - 2, chopped, chopped coriander leaves - 3 tbsps, salt to taste, oil for deep frying, cooked prawns( Just boil the frozen cooked shrimps in some turmeric water, drain & use) - 250 gms, coarsely chopped.
Crush to a paste:
Garlic - 4 cloves, dry red chillies - 2, curry leaves - a sprig, saunf pwd - 1 tbsp.
Crush everything together to a coarse paste.
Method:
Take the coarse chana dal paste, coriander leaves, , onion, prawns, crushed spice paste, salt to taste & mix until everything is well combined.Shape into vadais & deep fry until golden . Serve immeditely with ketchup or as a side dish with rice.
Since i was doing it on a trial basis, The whole tray got over in the kitchen around the stove itself!!:)
