For my people will live as long as trees...For they are people blessed by the Lord, and their children too, will be blessed. I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs,I will go ahead and answer their prayers! Isaiah 65:22-24

Uh oh! I had no clue about this until I read Sharmi's blog today morning. I thought it was on Saturday or Sunday... just checked - it's today.

Yesterday, I got a meat thermometer for bread baking from DH and some silicone mini muffin cups for DD's muffins, does that count? Or is that too lame? :)

Hmmmm..... There's still some more time left. ;)

i guess anything new bought on this day counts:) but kay , this year in India, the jewellers had advertised it as starting from 20th or 22nd! when it is only today !:)) since the day is not yet over, maybe you can still go shopping;) My amma was telling me, that it wasn't necessarily gold, anything new, even clothes count! kay do you use a meat thermometer for bread baking?

:) Cool!

The instant probe thermometer - I had problem knowing if the bread in the oven was completely done.. I read recently that a instant thermometer (meat thermometer) can be inserted after 35 mins in 350 F oven to check if the bread is done. The temp should register 205-210 F for wheat bread 180-190 for white bread to be done.

I didn't know if instant probe and meat thermometer were the same.. but got it anyway. :) Any ideas?

I did not know about this either! What a missed opportunity to get something for the home - but your link says that anything undertaken that day will flourish (and in this case, I have made a step :-D)

Waiting to see what you intend to do with your new buys...

kay i have never heard of probe thermometer, what is it? i have saved your comment,( because most of the time i do the knock test & if it sounds hollow, i take it as done, hoping it is done!:)), for i have a meat thermometer & i going to try it when i bake my next batch of bread:)so did you go shopping again??;))
Bombay bruxelles it was sun tv which reminded me of this day:) & it seems anything new bought or started on this day is considered to be auspicious:)I am planning to do a lemon meringue tart from here http://www.joyofbaking.com/LemonMeringueTart.html:)

Paati, probe is the part which you stick inside the meat. after reading in a couple of places, I think they do mean meat thermometer...

I tried the thermometer yesterday when I baked bread - it worked! :)

No, I didn't get to buy anything, but I did try to do something new. So, hopefully that counts.
