Today's special lunch -Paaya (Lamb trotters) & dosai!!

Today's special lunch - Paaya (Lamb trotters) & dosai!!

Its funny how food blogs influence your lunch decisions! You see something somewhere on some blog & you realise that it has been a long time since you have had that dish & makes you long for it!!;)

You set out to catch hold of all the ingredients & are at peace only after you have cooked & eaten it! This paaya was one such dish! At home my amma always served it with soft spongy dosais which we used as sort of bread to mop up all the yummy paaya soup. So here too, i served this with some soft spongy dosais to recreate some of those happy food memories!:))
So today's lunch was:
Aatukaal paaya

+
Homestyle soft sponge dosai

My lunch today!!;))

Hi Paati,

The paaya looks so inviting with the oil floating on top.Must have been an excellent combo for those spongy dosas.Forgot to mention I love your soft chappathies too.Any secret ingredient other than your expertise? :-D

Lots of love,
Kate.

you are welcome, asha:) when you come over you can meet my mom & she will be very happy to talk with you in her mother tongue!!;))It tasted delicious with dosai & do try it out when i put up the recipe here, but do you have some halal butchers near your place? for only they sell these lamb trotters!

first time seeing you here mallugirl, welcome to my blog!:)we too used to eat those combos too- idlis&fish kozhumbhu , puris & lamb stew( for breakfast!) etc! Earlier my mom used to serve this with aappam, but somehow over the years it changed,it became appam with talai kari or prawn vindali & dosai with paaya! do try out the dosai & paya combo it tastes delicious:)

ha!ha! dear kate you are talking about the oil floating on top ! you didn't see the fat layers on the kaals that i ate!;)))but was yummy! As for the soft chappatis, no big secret kate, just depends on how you knead the dough( dont make it too hard nor too soft& allow it to rest for atleast 3 hrs, for the more the proofing time, the more the gluten develops & the chappatis are softer!) & the atta's quality.

thanks, gini ,as soon as i finish the pending posts, i will put it up as promised to asha!:)After a long time,i ate my lunch with the tv switched off & fully enjoyed the meal!!

glad to see you here revathi:)do get your thata's version too & put it up it on your blog!i am planning to post my mom's version shortly on my blog:)yes! it was joseph's blog which lead me to cook this long forgotten dish!;)

mlp you are TOO MODEST!!;)) what 8 dosais?!! 8 dosai is for kuruvis!! my secret source tells me its around 10 to 12 dosais & that too with some stiff copetition from someone who ate away clarisse & clarisse amma's lunch!!:))ha!ha!ha!

thanks, preethi:) glad to see you here. did you try out the tikka masala dish??:)

Hi sra, welcome to my blog:)what your dh says is true! i used to get that remark too but nowadays i reply, so what! atleast i try out recipes from my cookbooks, for earlier the comments were that i was just hoarding cookbooks without even opening them!!& most important thing to remember is never go through food blogs when you are hungry, for there are certain food ideas which get stubbornly stuck in your mind & the only way to dislodge them is to try out those recipes & blog about them!!;))
