For my people will live as long as trees...For they are people blessed by the Lord, and their children too, will be blessed. I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs,I will go ahead and answer their prayers! Isaiah 65:22-24

Moong dal porial

Moong dal porial
I had already seen this recipe somewhere on the net. So when i came across this recipe in my cookbook, i was excited to try it out. The dish turned out to be okay tastewise! But i prefer the tamilian type dal kootu, which are not only simple to cook( no grinding!) but taste great too or even the good old dal to this!
Ingredients:
Whole moong dal - 1 cup, chilli pwd - 1/2 tsp, turmeric pwd - 1/4 tsp, potatoes - 2, boiled & cubed, oil - 3 tbsp, curry leaves - 5, mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp, salt to taste, dry red chilli - 1.

To grind:

Fresh grated coconut - 3 tbsp, green chilli - 2.

Grind the above ingredients to a smooth paste.

Method:

Pressure cook the moong dal, turmeric pwd, salt to taste ,chilli pwd & the ground paste. When done ,add the potatoes & simmer on low flame for 2 to 3 mins. Heat oil in a small pan & season with mustard, dry red chilli & curry leaves & add to the moong dal mixture. Continue simmering for a few more seconds & garnish with a tsp of freshly grated coconut & serve with chappatis or rotis!

Mor sadam ( buttermilk rice)

I had it with some 'mor sadam'( buttermilk rice) ,since i was feeling tired to roll out the chappaties!!

Adapted from Sreedharan Das recipe! The taste was okay with rice, maybe it will taste better with rotis! But i dont see myself repeating this dish once again in the near future!
