Life's Ride!

En veetu

For my people will live as long as trees...For they are people blessed by the Lord, and their children too, will be blessed. I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs,I will go ahead and answer their prayers! Isaiah 65:22-24

Boil the dal , coarsely mash it and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan & season with mustard, cumin , saunf, dry red chilli & curry leaves. Now add the onions& garlic and fry till the onions are golden. Add the chayote, turmeric pwd , salt to taste & boiled paruppu & stir for few seconds. Sprinkle little water , cover and cook till the vegetable is done. Serve hot with plain white rice, ghee, pickle & roasted papad.

Chayote is what you call seemai kathrikai or bangalore kathirikai. Some people add little chilli pwd for more spicy taste. This is one vegetable which is easily available in supermarkets & you dont have to go all the way to indian grocery stores to buy it! The chayote fruit is also considered to be a diuretic by some.
